About Blake Gray

Progress, success, achievement, advancement, amelioration, evolution, momentum, refinement, solidarity; these are words that go to my very core and I’m sure that resonate with you in one way or another.

I’m Blake Gray, the Creator and Presenter of Blake-Gray.Com If like me you feel excited, stimulated and inspired by these words above, then perhaps, what I have to say might also be of interest to you.

Your ability to motivate yourself is perhaps the single most important ingredient in any recipe for success that you will have. In many instances this is a skill that the vast majority of us do not possess innately. Think of someone whom you would regard as successful. Imagine asking this person ‘what was key to their success’–what was it that pushed them forward when they had otherwise felt like giving up. Once asked I guarantee they will say something like, “Staying motivated was probably the thing that helped the most. Once I found out what my driver was then I was able to use it to propel myself forward.” So I start with a question. Do you know what it is that drives you; what gets you up in the morning; what it is that you draw strength and inspiration from; what emotion is at the forefront of your mind as you move through the day? Have you ever even entertained this question?

By now you might be wondering what I’m about.

I love science, I love film, literature, history, music, nature and I am magnetised to ideas and conversation in all of its forms.

So why fitness? Well, I won’t bore you with the much exhausted and clichéd response of “I have always had a great passion for health and fitness” but instead will simply say that it seemed the natural and probable direction for me to take. In retrospect much of what I had admired when I was very young, was at least in part related to or had emerged from the discipline of physical betterment and training. I have been working within the fitness industry for the past 7 years. My speciality is one-on-one Personal Training, however, I have also been involved in Sports-specific conditioning and Group Fitness instruction, much of which was conducting group weight loss challenges. There is so much that I would like to tell you about this last 7 years, my style of training, my approach to nutrition, my motivational programming and alike–but perhaps more of this later.

Finally I come to the website.

The fitness industry has become polluted by a coalescence of misinformation. Take the common experience of the client who has contracted the services of a Personal Trainer. It is so often the case that the client will become frustrated. It seems to me that this frustration is born out of 3 things.

  1. Lack of client education
  2. Lack of motivation
  3. Lack of results

Blake-Gray.Com is my attempt to clear the air. I am proud to say that my website is about education, instruction and teaching you how to become your own Personal Trainer.

Many of my clients have described their experiences to me; detailing how difficult it can be–at least initially–to take action. Almost always, their taking action is the result of a shift in the way they think–a change of perception. Therefore, I would like to leave you with this quote.

The gym is one of only few places that specifically affords you the opportunity to better yourself–it has been designed to fulfil that very purpose. In here all obstacles can be anticipated, challenged and surpassed; you control all the variables; you receive no aid; the initiative is yours and the only improvement is self-improvement. Contrary to popular view, it is not about how much you can lift, or how fast you can run, or how many heads you can turn–self aggrandisement is not welcome. It is purely about leaving stronger–in every sense of the word–than what you were when you came in that day–if only millimetrically. When you grow and mature in here then everyone out there will notice…Once you realise this how can you feel anything but a perpetual torrent of excitement, motivation and priority?” Blake Gray
